Growing up in Englewood on Chicago’s southside, developing healthier eating habits was no small feat. In my neighborhood, most food options were limited to artery-clogging fried foods and unbalanced meals, revealing not just a lack of access but a lack of care for communities like mine. When Whole Foods opened, it sparked hope—but its quiet closure six years later spoke volumes. Through my new single and personal testimony, I want to highlight not just physical hunger, but the spiritual hunger that goes unmet. Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:51–59). This is bigger than food—this is about healing, access, and eternal sustenance for both body and soul. Aasha Marie debuts her brand new EP “Signs of Life.” Working closely with her team of producers Terrance “Slim” Holmes and Runtrell “Tricky” Skinner, the project embodies the contemporary gospel sound with an added Chicago flair. Not your average Sunday morning songs, the “Signs of Life” EP features a diverse blend of jazz, funk, soul, R&B, and hip hop. All songs were written, arranged and executive produced by Aasha Marie.
